once in a lifetime moments

nye 2020 brought all the gatsby themes. we all thought we were going to LIVE this year with a new era. well… we sure got one, huh?
who knew that era was going to bring a new plague w/ unheard of unemployment numbers?
like… this year is going in textbooks, ya’ll.

while a lot of it has sucked…
we’re living in a year that is bringing us SO MANY “once in a lifetime” moments.
my best friend since high school, kristine, reminded me of this & blew my mind.

if you think about the last 9 months, since january, how many of those moments have you experienced… the ones you’ll look back & say: “wow, that was once in a lifetime“… good or bad?

here are my examples:
* was promoted to stage manager for universal orlando’s rock the universe.
* bought a car by myself.
* visited lake tahoe.
* fronted my band at daytona’s bike week right before covid hit.
* cancelled our honeymoon due to a world virus & travel bans.
* was scheduled an interview for a brand new job created & never got the chance to have it (thanks to covid & layoffs, the job no longer exists).
* went from hustling in the entertainment world to literally having nothing to do at all.
* sang in my 1st live stream.
* dyed my hair pink.
* met our new nephew!
* experienced mothers day after the loss of a child.
* have worn a mask in public for 6+ months.
* held a positive pregnancy test & have stayed pregnant!
* learned & educated myself on the blm movement.
* started a bloggggg!
* learned we’re having a HEALTHY baby girl!
* watched our country split into the most liberal & most conservative halves i’ve ever seen.
* had a baby announcement photoshoot!
* emceed my 1st webinar.
* registered for baby stuff at all the stores (so much shit #helpmeimpoor).
* decided on a theme for baby (we’re going boho chic).
* had my best friend of 17 yrs, & incredible artist, kristine of curated dry goods paint an incredible mural for the nursery.

& with all that said, i wanted to share the latest “first” w/ all of you…

kristine is a local artist here in central florida & gifted her talents for our baby girl.
she designed & created this mural in the same room my parents had my nursery in.
[cue tears]
our baby girl will grow up in the same room her mommy did.

watching kristine in her element was so incredible & the fact that we got to catch up while she focused on making baby girl’s nursery unique & beautiful was the cherry on top.

we had life chit chats…
about how it used to be, who we were, how life experiences have changed us, who we are now, what our goals are for our craft & how our families are doing.

a lot of life has changed & we’ve experienced a lot of “once in a lifetime” moments together & separately in the 17 years of friendship.
(however… this year just seems to be the craziest & most unexpected.)

within the 8 hours she was painting, we covered a lot of life topics but we also talked about this little miracle & what it meant.
our rainbow.

(here she goes!)
(already loving the color contrast)
(theodore is such a good guard dog. “do NOT disturb her or cross this line.”)
(pep talks w/ theo & kristine: “hey auntie k… can i has whatever is in that starbucks bag?”)
(“ok mom, fine. no starbucks. but look at these colors!”)
(rainbow is complete & branches/vines have started!)
(finished & complete!)
(theo is so proud!)

we absolutely love it.
it turned out better than we expected!

after searching on pinterest for ideas, i sent her a couple rooms i had seen & liked.
the thing was tho… everything i saw was wallpaper… not freehand art.
but here kristine is, being amazing & making dreams come true.

i’m so appreciative of our friendship…
our “once in a lifetime” moments…
& her gift of giving.
her talent, art, & positive energy will give our family the reminder that growth comes from above &roots everywhere, rainbows are the promises God proves He’ll provide after storms, & bright, happy, sunshine-like colors keep the soul warm.

i hope you can see & take out some positive “once in a lifetime” moments this year. i know there have been negatives… but there are negatives in every year… but we don’t need to focus on them unless there is a lesson in learning from them. most of the negatives are just out of our hands (which is also frustrating).
however… ya know whats in your hands?
your attitude & your plans.
keep them up & going. 🙂
